What are Stress Headaches?

April 20th, 2010

I’m sure we all realize what stress is and how we behave during a stressful period. Some people can work excellently with the stresses that problems bring with them. Other people become overcome by the great pressure that they are experiencing. In some individuals this pressure manifests itself in the form of stress headaches.

Stress headaches are primarily caused by excessive amounts of stressful situations; ie more than anyone would normally find themselves involved with. Ability to deal with these obstacles gradually diminishes and so stress begins to take its toll on them and a stress headache can develop.

In other cases, having different forms of headache can cause stress headaches due to the fact that we need to deal with the headache and get on with our daily life. As the headache gradually takes charge of our life, we start to feel stressed and unable to carry on. All of these headaches (including stress headaches) can be controlled safely and, in some situations, prevented from occurring again with the correct drugs.

There are other ways of coping with stress headaches apart from using medicine. These other methods include: cognitive therapy, behavioural therapy and physical therapy.

Cognitive therapy seeks to “redirect” a stress headache. In this method of treatment, the patient is taught how they can understand what starts the stress symptoms and how they can alter their response to these conditions.

Behavioural therapy is the next way of treating stress headaches. When people become overwhelmed by a situation, they try dealing with their headache by taking drugs, alcohol, over-the-counter tranquilizers, pain medications and some people also take street drugs. Since taking these substances will only provide temporary help, it is better to give them the tools to build a healthy lifestyle, which can help that person to cope better with their stress headaches.

Physical therapy tries using biofeedback response. Individuals experiencing stress headaches learn to recognize and reduce the amount of physical tension in their body. The treatments that are recommended for this method are muscle relaxation, deep breathing, yoga and other self-relaxing methods. It is possible to see what effect these measures have on sufferers of stress headaches, as these methods relax and calm the body.

The various methods of therapy that were mentioned above are all interrelated. Using all three of these therapies, including headache medication, will provide the sufferer with a type of relief that will work for them for the rest of their lives and not just the short time when they are undergoing a stress headache.

South-western Home Decor

April 20th, 2010

So what exactly is southwestern home decor and how can you introduce it into your own home? Well, to begin with southwestern home decor reflects the southwest and all its best traits. Southwestern home decor uses colourful throw rugs, gorgeous wall hangings, and if you look hard enough, you can even find great kitchen accessories as well.

If you’re considering bringing southwestern home decor into your residence, first of all, you need to check whether it will fit in with your existing decor or whether it will clash badly. Almost all southwestern home decor involves bright, eye-catching colours and stunning designs and motifs.

So, if your existing furniture would clash with any of these lovely pieces, you can do one of two things. First up, you could always just throw out every single piece of unwanted furniture that you have and replace them with gorgeous pieces of southwestern home decor. Or you could just buy one or two pieces of the southwestern home decor range and match them carefully with your existing pieces.

Personally speaking, I would rather replace everything I have since there’s some wear, but in reality that’s just not possible. For one thing it would just be way over my budget, and for another I would rather not have to listen to a lecture from my mother about extravagance. I’ve found out that you can get away from from your friends but not from your mother!

However, I’m also more than little happy that I didn’t give into my first impulse and renovate all in the southwestern home decor style. Granted that it does look really nice, but sometimes I also like the serenity that some of my other pieces of furniture bring to in me. Therefore, I have now come up with the ideal solution and have instead resorted to purchasing one-off pieces that catch my attention and dotting my home with them instead.

And I have to say that its made quite a difference in the look and feel of my whole home. Expensive pieces of the more traditional furniture now sit quite comfortably next to the more vibrant and stunning designs of my southwestern home decor. I’ve also bought a great rug for my bathroom floor and a gorgeous set of hand towels. My kitchen sports a new set of southwestern motifs, and my foyer has the most wonderful lampshade and statuette in prominent view.

Although all of this sounds a bit much, I’ve found that this is the easiest way to bring the splendours of southwestern home decor into your home, without going the whole hog and renewing your entire house with southwestern decor and motifs.

After all, you just want to add a dash of southwestern decor to your home, don’t you? Not the whole thing! Oh, and did I forget to tell you about the gorgeous tapestry I bought the other day? It’s just perfect.

Credit Cards And Choosing One

April 19th, 2010

Almost everyone over the age of consent has or wants a credit card these days and they are taken in almost every establishment. There are three main sorts of credit card common in America. The first main kind of credit card is travel and entertainment cards such as American Express or Diners Card. These have to be repaid in full at the end of the month and are liberal on spending limits.

The second major type of credit card is the bank card such as Visa, Master Cards, GM, and Ford cards sponsored mainly by the banks. The bank defines the spending limit, which in bank speak, is known as the credit line and each bank offers different terms and conditions. Banks offer a choice of payment methods: you can either repay the balance in full with no interest charges or pay the minimum (or some part of the balance) with an interest.

The other major sort of card is the retail store card, such as Sears, J.C. Penney, Shell or Mobil. These store cards and the ones from gas companies, which are known as fuel cards, are only accepted in specific countries. They usually do not carry annual charges. There is a wide variance in the terms and conditions for these cards.

Different kinds of credit cards offer different options. Some are designed for individual consumers, while others are set up in ways that work best for small business needs. To know what sort of credit card fits your needs, you should review a few options.

How to Select your Credit Card.

Credit cards have become a part of everyday life for most people who live in the west. It’s becoming increasingly impossible to avoid them, especially for business men. So, if it is the first time you are thinking of entering into the world of plastic money, here are some of the basic things you should look out for.

First, compare the interest chargeable on all the credit cards for which you are eligible. While the rate may not remain fixed indefinitely, it’s always advisable for first timers to go for the one charging the lowest rates.

Make sure you study the fine print carefully, especially with regard to the other charges that may be made, like late-payment fees, annual fees, and whether there is a grace period.

Decide which spending limit is most appropriate for a person of your income. Also the fewer credit cards you have, the better placed you are to understand your spending.

You should compare the services and other features such as the cash back incentives, or warranties, rebates and the like and check whether the card is taken widely enough to suit your requirements.

You should acquaint yourself with the following terms: 1] Annual Percentage Rate: this is the annual cost of the credit. 2] Finance Charges: these are the total charges involving the transaction. 3] Period of Grace: This is the period of time the card issuer gives you before they commence charging you interest on your purchases. (Not all credit card issuers offer a grace period).

Many truckers move goods depending on the season. For example, during the fall, you will find many truckers moving harvested goods like corn and other crops.

A good example of a seasonal trucker would be an ice road trucker. For only two months of the year the ice near the arctic circle becomes home to the select few truckers to brave the harsh conditions.

Niche Trucking

Coal truckers move coal year around as miners harvest the coal. There are also many jobs for rock truckers and other movers. You sure can’t forget movers and shipping companies.

Short haul trucking companies delivery goods in a limited area but sometimes might have to delivery further than expected. Some truckers may have a route that they take everyday such as a trip from Birmingham to Atlanta back to Birmingham.

Is She A Bitch Or A Lady?

April 18th, 2010

So you may wonder, what is in a dog’s name? Just what does it matter what your female dog’s name is? The answer is a lot, because your bitch’s name defines him or her in the eyes of your neighbours, especially if you have a small dog. What small dogs lack in stature they can make up for in attitude. For small dogs, being cute will get them everywhere. But what is a cute dog without a cute dog name?

Cute dog names are really meant for female dogs. Abby, for example is a very cute dog name. When you put that together with an image, you probably see a little Westie or a Labrador pup running around a lawn in your mind’s eye. Other cute female dog names are Brownie, Beauty, Becky and Blackie. All of these cute dog names seem to embody a bundle of fur that has a sweet nature and just loves cuddles. They all allude to a cute appearance and a very happy dog owning experience.

However, there appears to be very few cute dog names out there for male dogs. This could be because it lessens the masculine image that male dogs are supposed to have. Still, there are a few cute male dog names about. Bobby, (Old) Nick, Patch and Tigger are all cute male dog names that have the same effect as the female ones do. However, you do have to make sure that you have the right kind of male dog to name with a cute dog name, because if you get it wrong, it will make him sound silly.

Cute dog names can be very appropriate for male and female members alike of certain breeds and can help to develop a lovable personality, because of the affection it will be shown. But be warned, you do not want to leave your dog open to ridicule so choose when to use cute dog names very carefully.

While dogs are quite intelligent animals, they cannot really process the same quantity of information that we can. As a result, dog names should not be more than two syllables. If they are more than that, it is very rare that a dog will actually respond. Max, Sam, Lady, Molly and the like are excellent dog names because they are short and the syllables are hard. They easily respond to dog names like those and it can improve your chances of training them.

Moreover, dogs names should help them shape an identity of their own. Common names do not allow them to do that, so finding a short, simple but unusual name can help their characters a great deal without damaging their ability to obey a command.

I am willing to bet money that most pet owners do not consider the points outlined above when thinking of dog names for a new pet. Instead, dog names are chosen at on a whim, but it is worth putting a bit more thought into it, for your dogs sake if nothing else.

Golfing for Novices: Part One

April 15th, 2010

The popularity of the game of golf has increased tremendously over the past forty-five years, giving us great champions like Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods and world-renowned courses like Pinehurst, St. Andrews, Augusta National and the Blue Monster at Doral.

Why should playing golf have taken off like that? I think it has to be because by playing golf you are being active outdoors with friends or colleagues competing in a leisurely game that you can never perfect.

Your achievements are tallied on your scorecard for all time and the desire to improve your game can encourage you to play again and again.

Here is a very basic lesson in golf for the person who hasn’t a clue about the game.

The typical round of golf is played on a course of eighteen holes, each or which has its own ‘par’. Par is the total number of shots it should take a player to complete that hole, ie all the tee shots (drives), fairway shots, chips (short shots onto the green) and puts into the hole.

This ‘par’ value is based on the length and difficulty of the hole in question. Pars range from three to six, so if you get the ball into the hole in four shots on a ‘par four’ hole, you made ‘par’. However, if you took three shots, it’s called a ‘birdie’ or five shots a ‘bogie’.

All the holes on a golf course will have at least one ‘hazard’ to make the game more challenging and therefore more interesting. These hazards are usually: sand traps, trees and bodies of water, which are set up in such a way as to be obstructive. A beginner at golf should seek out a course which has fewer and less obstructive hazards so it is easier to play.

Players keep their own score of the total number of shots taken for each hole. After the eighteenth hole, they add up their scores and the one with the lowest is the winner.

It is important for beginner golfers to not take themselves too seriously. It takes a long time to get good at this game; even though the professionals make it look so easy.

A good tip is to get the basics right from the start by taking a few lessons from the course ‘pro’, because then you will learn the correct posture and swing.

Golfing for Beginners: Part 3

April 15th, 2010

The term ‘the long game’ refers to your drives (shots off the tee) and fairway shots; that is every shot except the shots you make to actually get onto the green.

For the reason that each hole has a different difficulty level, a different par and different obstructions, saying that you should use your driver on every tee every time would be totally wrong.

But don’t worry about it. This is something that you will have to learn with experience as you learn the various types shot you need to make, which will vary according to the club, the placement of the ball and your own personal style of swing.

As a rule of thumb, the lower the number of the club, the longer and lower your ball will travel through the air. For example, a 4-iron will make the ball travel on a long and low trajectory and will most likely roll when it hits the ground, whereas a 9-iron will give the ball much more loft and it will go less distance both in the air and over the ground.

The professionals on television make it look so easy, don’t they? They consistently hit the ball long and straight and never miss-hit the ball making it dribble ten feet or completely miss the ball altogether, but you do not have to do that either, if you practice, practice, practice.

One of the most important parts of the game is the drive. If you spend a few hours at the driving range you will see quite a big improvement in your long-distance shots. Use the same club in this experiment to see what affect it has, if you move the ball backward or forward or in your stance. And, if you can, take a lesson or two from a pro, to learn the proper swing from the start.

Mastering the long game will help you get to the green in fewer strokes, keeping your score and frustration levels down. Remember that it takes a long time to learn consistency and also remember that you’re supposed to be having fun! So go and enjoy yourself.
