Teeth Whitening

April 23rd, 2010

Choosing teeth whitening products from the different teeth whitening products available on the market today can be very confusing. However, some of these teeth whitening products do not give the desired results.

If you were to ask the experts, they would tell you that the best method of teeth whitening is still obtainable through your dentist. Not only is it the best, but it is also the most effective and the quickest way to have whiter teeth.

However, not everyone can afford the costs that come with such treatment. Another thing that hinders them from going to dentists is fear. It seems that in early childhood, dentists are one of the most feared professions and that children just do not want to have to go to them. This fear continues on into adult years.

Although dentists do not advise people to choose teeth whitening products, they all agree that most of these products are effective in a degree. According to studies, most teeth whitening products, if used regularly and consistently, can result in whiter teeth that can out perform any dentist-assisted procedure.

Another bonus that teeth whitening products have, is that they contain the same ingredients that are used in professional whitening. Two of the active ingredients used in whitening teeth are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide. These two chemicals are also the ingredients present in some of the products that are sold in ordinary grocery stores and pharmacies.

The only advantage that teeth whitening products have over professional whitening is that they are very cheap. Everyone who learns about them can afford to add them to their list of basic shopping things.

Most of these products can be bought for less than $30. Compare this to the $100 or more that you are charged at the dentist’s surgery. It will not surprise you that most people prefer them over the higher fees. However, teeth whitening products do have some disadvantages. Some of which are:

1. Suitability. Teeth whitening products cater to all types of teeth, it is true, but then different people have different requirements. What some people find to be effective may not work for others. This is one of the problems that people will encounter with these ‘home’ products.

Some people have sensitive teeth and gums and their reaction to these products will depend upon the suitability of the products to the people using them. Another option would be to try out different products until you find the one that suits you.

2. Strong Chemicals Used. You will not know what your reaction to a product will be until you have tried it out. Since you do not know how sensitive your teeth are, you will also not know what might happen when you start using the product. It is better to consult with your dentist first before choosing any product at all.

3. Tray may not fit. The tray put in your mouth does not exactly fit you, so there is a tendency that it may be either be too large or too small.

If it is too large, the chemicals may not work very well. On the other hand, if it is too small, it could cause gum bleeding and other side effects that could cause even bigger problems. Be sure that the teeth whitening precuts you select are suitable for you. If none of them works, then maybe professional teeth whitening would be better for you.

Do I Need Teeth Whitening?

April 6th, 2010

Your teeth are a very important feature of your appearance. Teeth whitening facilities know about this fact, which is why they are encouraging people to whiten their teeth, so that they can look their best and so that others will find their whole appearance more pleasing.

Whitening your teeth can also enhance your self confidence. Did you ever noticed those people who smile a lot even to strangers? Notice how easily they radiate warmth just by giving that Hollywood smile. Sometimes, that smile is so contagious that you find yourself smiling and feeling better from that time on.

This is the reason why you have to perfect that smile so you can do it more often. One way of perfecting it is by whitening your teeth. In today’s world where beauty products and facial makeovers are commonplace, you see lots of beautiful people. What you will always notice is the colour of their teeth.

You probably think that they are very fortunate to have been born with beautiful white teeth like that, but what you do not realize is that those teeth are the result of the whitening products and procedures that are available on the market today.

Over-the-counter teeth whitening products are not as expensive as they used to be. This is probably because of the stiff competition out there. With so many new products appearing almost everyday, it is no wonder that the prices are going down.

Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Are your teeth as white as they used to be? Do you feel that they could be made still whiter? Are you one of those people that would benefit from having their teeth whitened?

To answer these questions, look at some of these considerations:

1. Methods for teeth whitening. The methods used for teeth whitening are on a case-to-case basis. For every individual, there is a method that will suit their different requirements. You can choose veneers instead of bleaching or teeth whitening. The best thing to do is to consult your dentist first about what you should do. Your dentist will be able to advise you what will be perfect for your requirements.

2. Smokers and Caffeine-Addicts. If you are one of those who like to consume caffeinated drinks, then you are probably a candidate for teeth whitening. This is the same for people who smoke a lot. The ingredients in caffeinated drinks can discolour your teeth if you have been drinking caffeine for a long time. Tar and nicotine can also discolour teeth quickly.

By having your teeth whitened or by continuously using whitening toothpaste, you can minimize the effects that these things will bring about on your teeth. Prolonged and regular use will definitely help fight off the quick discoloration of your teeth.

3. Sensitive teeth and gums. Your teeth and gums may not be able to withstand the chemical contents of whitening products. If you think you have sensitive teeth, it is best to delay using whitening products until you have seen your dentist first.

If you have a sensitive mouth, but you are still adamant about having your teeth whitened, then you had better try one of the professional treatments. Do not take the chance of buying one of the products that you can buy over the counter.

After you have mulled over all these things, then you will have a good idea if you are ready for that teeth whitening procedure. When it comes to your well being, it is always better to be safe than to be sorry.

Screenshots from Halo 3

December 23rd, 2009

When a video game series is as wildly popular as the Halo series, which includes Halo 3, of course, then it’s bound to result in there being many screenshots available. This piece focuses on some of the weird and wild Halo 3 screenshots.

Before we get on to the Halo 3 screenshots specifically, let’s have a look at the figures that create all of this media. Over 9 million copies of Halo 3 have been sold so far. That means that if each person who bought the game plays for only 10 hours, there are more than 90 million hours of game time from which to choose screenshots. A lot can take place in 90 million hours, and with all the image-uploading websites available to people, a great deal of it has been uploaded.

One of the issues in Halo 3 that has frequently been documented in Halo 3 screenshots is what Master Chief looks like or more specifically, what his face is like. If you use Google to look up the top 10 Halo 3 screenshots, you’ll find a screenshot of Master Chief lying dead on the ground, clearly not revealing a face inside his helmet. This explains why we never see his face, say many players, because he does not really have one.

Another one of the Halo 3 screenshots featuring in the top 10 Halo 3 screenshots is the one of a Marine getting hammered on a floodgate. Someone commented that it looked a lot like Han Solo when he was frozen in Carbonite. And do you know what? – they’re absolutely correct.

The makers of Halo 3 wanted to make it much easier for people to take Halo 3 screenshots and to share them all over the Internet. To accomplish this they created a saved films feature right inside the game. This feature permits people to slow down the action, or even to freeze it, change the camera angles and even move the camera around to get exactly the screenshot they want to have. Generally speaking, the ‘Save Films’ feature records all the action that occurs in the game, so it can later be turned into videos are screenshots.

Yet another feature that has a little bit to do with Halo 3 screenshots in the ‘Save Films’ feature, is the watching of previously saved films. You see, the saves are not just images or film, they are real game data. This means two things: A] the file size is pretty small and B] the whole game can be watched from different angles on the Xbox 360.

This means to say that a player could replay a game again and again, seeing new things in new places every time they watch it. That’s a great deal better than simple Halo 3 screenshots.

Halo 3

December 20th, 2009

Recently, while searching the Internet for details on the Halo 3 weapons cheats, I came across a number of what-if situations? What if Master Chief took on different famous characters from films, comic books, and legends? Here is a list of some of these battles and my idea of the result.

While technically not a Halo 3 weapon cheat, the match-up of Master Chief versus Robocop would be interesting. According to the information on the Internet both have a few similarities. They’re both human, they’ve both been enhanced, they both have amazing armour and they are both experienced combatants. Most voters thought that Master Chief would beat Robocop, but let’s face facts here, Master Chief can be put down with a pistol, whereas Robocop was still going after being blown up at a petrol station. The nod has to go to Robocop.

If Master Chief battled with the next combatant he would need to have a Halo 3 weapon cheat. The next is MacGyver. Master Chief has a lot going for him. He is proficient with a variety of weapons; he has that fantastic armour; he has some incredible vehicles at his disposal; he’s a Clint Eastwood type loner and he can regenerate himself. However, in short, MacGyver is brain over brawn. It would probably come down to the same considerations in a fight between Batman and Superman. However, if it’s a closed arena where it’s man versus man, Master Chief will win. But put this contest in the real world with Swiss army knives and duct tape at his disposal, and MacGyver’s going to murder our futuristic friend.

Up until now Master Chief is 2-0 down, it’s starting to look like he can really use a Halo 3 weapon cheat. But we’ll give him another chance. This time it’s Master Chief versus Terminator. We already know Master Chief’s powers, the Terminator’s are an ability to master every weapon, relentless willpower, doesn’t get tired, amazing detrermination to destroy his prey. It all boils down to the Spartan laser weapon. As one voter said, if Master Chief can destroy vehicles with this weapon he can certainly put a pretty big hole in the Terminator too.

Let’s have one more contest before Master Chief finds his Halo 3 weapon cheat. What can he do against Boba Fett from Star Wars? The only differences between Master Chief and Boba Fett are that Boba has no shields, owns his own ship and has a jet pack.

Many people believe Star Wars comes out on top in this battle, but Master Chief’s weapons are much more powerful than those shown by the bounty hunter. This one makes it two all, Master Chief goes 50-50.

So, those are the results of the survey – the people have spoken. In this small poll that we found on the Internet, Master Chief is your average sort of super hero, who is not guaranteed to win every single contest, unless he finds his weapon cheats or the story writers want him to, that is.

Halo 3 Modification

December 20th, 2009

A Halo 3 mod is usually considered to be any software modification that changes the game play in the very popular video game for the Xbox 360, Halo 3. But the term also includes many other modifications, such as physical changes made to the Xbox 360 console to show the world that you are truly a Halo 3 fanatic.

However, before anyone can make a Halo 3 mod, they need the right tools, together with some technical expertise. These tools generally include a number of bits of software that allow people to de-construct, edit, and reconstruct Halo 3 files. It would also involve some hardware to allow the Xbox 360 hard drive to be read into a PC and the files to be restored to that hard drive.

You have to do this because the Xbox 360 is not a platform on which files can be altered. Previously, the hardware developers, in this example Microsoft, made the tools available to people who paid the licensing fee. But over time, especially with Halo 3 mods, the public has developed a number of tools and techniques to achieve what needs to be done for modification.

A Halo 3 mod also includes, as stated earlier, physical changes to the Xbox 360 console itself. For example, some people might take off the case and actually carve the words ‘Halo 3′ into it. They might also compliment this by painting the console red, blue or green to match the colour of the armour of the heroes in the game.

However, it’s a pretty extreme way to announce to the world – I like Halo 3 – in that it could result in actual damage that renders the Xbox 360 unplayable. It would also void the guarantee. People often display their altered Xbox 360s on photo-sharing sites such as Flickr and when they go toattend live LAN events.

One of the stipulations that people who are fanatical about the world of the Halo 3 mod try to insist on is that the mods should not be created for the purpose of cheating. Modifications are fun to get a new aspect on Halo 3 play or a new look for certain levels. But if they’re used to make the game unfair in favour of one person or team, they destroy the overall game experience for everyone.

One website where a person can find many a Halo 3 mod is H3mod.com. The site calls itself the ‘future of Halo modding’. It seems to be a good place to begin if you want to learn about a Halo 3 mod.

When Was Halo 3 Released?

December 17th, 2009

On May 15, 2007 the information was out, that Halo 3 was due to be released on September 25 in North America and on the 26th in Europe. Halo 3 was the third in a very popular series for the Xbox 360 called ‘Halo’. According to the vice president of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, Halo 3’s publication was much more than just a video game release, it was to be the biggest media event of the year. He may just have been right too.

The full history of Halo 3 really has to start with the publication of the first game in the series ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’. In November, 2001, when Halo was first published, game consoles were something of a joke as one-person shoot-em-up games. Yes, some games existed, but they didn’t have the popular following that the PC games in the genre had.

That all changed with Halo, in which players could fight aliens on foot and in vehicles, in order to complete objectives, while trying to uncover the secret of the Halo. Halo was the first to limit the number of weapons a player could carry to two, which in turn, meant forcing the player to make strategic decisions.

People waited for the publication of Halo 3 with baited breath. They awaited the continuation of the one-person, shoot-em-up combat format that had been prevalent in the two previous versions of Halo. Microsoft calls it the ‘Golden Triangle of Halo’, which consists of gun-type weapons, grenades and others. In reality, this was nothing new to one-person, shoot-em-up games, as it had existed since the very first Doom and even the predecessor to that game, Wolfenstein.

So, with all of that previous history, people were full of anticipation and excitement about the Halo 3 release date. How popular and welcome was the game? Well, before its release, 3.1 million copies were sold in advance orders and retailers were sure that that was not enough.

The game grossed $300 million in the United States in only the first seven days. Overall, it has sold over nine million copies worldwide and was the best-selling video game in the USA in 2007. Even the critics liked it, putting it the seventh highest on the all-time list of Xbox 360 games.

The Halo 3 release date, like the release date of many widely popular video games was almost like a holiday like Christmas or Easter. It leaves us with the question of what will happen with video games in the future?

Home Movie Theater Screens

November 23rd, 2009

When it comes to choosing a screen, the first thing to think about is the kind of screen you want or even may need. If the room where you are setting up your home theater is a big one, then you will need to have a home theater projection screen or maybe you just want one anyway.

Personally, I like the idea of having a drop-down screen, but sometimes you have to have one anyway even in a modest-sized home movie theater. It would convert your living room into a home movie theater at the click of a remote. Imagine: you lie back in your chair; click the remote and the screen drops down; click another time and the lights dim; click another again and the film begins!

However, if you prefer a television screen, then you might be considering buying a new one. They say that a 27 inch screen is big enough, but I do not think it is. I think you need 48-60 inches, but then I’m a baby-boomer and my eyes are definitely not what they were.

If you are buying a new TV for your home theater, I think you should aim high. HDTV is upon us and since February 2009 the USA is committed to High Definition. So, I would make sure that your new TV is capable of receiving it. Then I suggest that the new home theater screen be a flat one to reduce the annoying glare that could ruin the experience. (This could be another reason for opting for a projection screen).

Finally, you should make sure that your new television has enough input and output sockets for the peripheral equipment you plan to use and you’re ready. Therefore, to summarize, I recommend you go for:

At least a 27 inch screen

A flat screen

HDTV enabled

Plenty of input and output plugs

Satellite enabled

I recommend satellite compatibility because it is probably the future or near future at least. If you get a satellite TV connection you will have access to HDTV downloads which you can watch whenever you like.

Halo 3 Free Trial

October 16th, 2009

The completion of Halo 3 was wildly anticipated, as the game was the third in the original trilogy of the Halo games. Therefore, the Halo 3 trial download was one of the most downloaded video game demos in the history of the Xbox 360. But what many people don’t remember is that the Halo 3 trial download went on to make another game ie Crackdown.

What does the Halo 3 demo download have to do with any another video game? Well, it has a lot to do with the sale and marketing work for a video that was originally meant for release on the Xbox system. Microsoft had become concerned that Crackdown wouldn’t sell a lot.

And so they used a marketing tactic, the one of bundling Crackdown with an access code to the Halo 3 trial download. And it worked a treat because Crackdown sold 1.5 million copies within the first half year of its release. Those aren’t Halo 3 figures, which sold 8.1 million copies in slightly over a year, but for a lesser well-known game that’s absolutely terrific.

Microsoft had resorted to the Halo 3 trial download tactic because of adverse opinions about the game from the play testers. They found the unusual nature of the game off-putting, often leaving them wondering what they were supposed to be doing next.

Because of this, the powers that be thought that something had to be done or the game would be a dud. It may seem shady practice at first to attempt to push sales of a game that’s expected to be unpopular, but in hindsight people love the game and it was a good thing that they were able to get the chance to play it.

In Crackdown, and that includes the version bundled with the Halo 3 trial download, individuals play the role of an agent who is detailed to defeat the kingpins or leaders of various gangs. To do this they make use of various superhuman powers such as super strength and super agility. In order to gain these powers, players have to accumulate experience by beating enemies who then release experience orbs. The clever part of the system was that the kind of orbs released was reliant on the manner in which the agent killed the enemy. For example, a firearms orb appears if the enemy was killed with a gun.

So, while at first sight this game bundled with the Halo 3 free download appears to be nothing but a veiled marketing gimmick, in reality it exposed gamers to an exciting gameplay world.

Home Theater: Lighting

October 13th, 2009

Light fittings are things that not that many people think about all that often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain mood or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all rooms in the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscape design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, but it could be any room. I think that you should definitely consider light fixtures as one element to change. For example, you could start by changing the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I would suggest installing four or even six small wall-lights. These are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any pocket. The only disadvantage of wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be chased into the wall so as not to appear unsightly.

But, you could get around this by buying standard lamps. These are also available in thousands of designs, but they come with two disadvantages: trailing wires and a higher cost. They are easily moveable though. Small, table lamps is a similar alternative, but you may need more electrical sockets.

Once you’ve decided what you want, make each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately – that’s up to you. A good idea would be to keep one fairly powerful light at the DVD end of things in case the equipment needs adjusting, although it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lights higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are thinking of, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to pick from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them on the Internet or in home improvement shops. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

And, when you do make the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will ” guaranteed ” enhance your home theater experience. It may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a completely different light.
